Start from the behavior, not from the part
Twenty-six behaviors are written out on this site, each in the words people actually use when they call. That is deliberate. Somebody with a warm refrigerator does not know whether they have a condenser, a fan, a damper or a board, and asking them to choose is how the wrong part ends up on the van.
Half of what gets reported is the appliance working as designed
Worth saying plainly, because it saves a visit. A Bosch dishwasher dries by condensation rather than with a heating element, so plastics come out damp and that is the machine doing what it was built to do. A compact dryer takes longer than the full-size American machine it replaced, for the same reason. A refrigerator that runs almost continuously in August in Miami is not failing; it is a cabinet keeping its set point in a room that is fighting it.
Where the same description means different repairs
“Not draining” is the clearest case. On a dishwasher it is the filter, the pump, the hose or a disposal knockout plug nobody removed at installation. On a washer it is the pump filter behind the front flap, which most owners do not know exists. Same words, four parts, and a wide range of prices – which is why the pages here separate what the appliance is doing from what it is likely to be.
What South Florida contributes
Storm season brings a run of electronics complaints that clear on their own: five minutes genuinely off at the breaker resolves a fair share of them, and it is worth trying before booking anything. Hard water films glassware and scales a heat pump. Salt air, near the water, reaches burner caps, igniters and condenser coils years earlier than the same machine would inland.
If your problem is not on the list
Describe it in your own words when you get in touch. The list is what we are asked about most often, not the limit of what we look at, and a sentence about what the appliance is doing is enough to start.
