## Bosch models and series: what each one changes.

The series is not paint and badges — it changes the components. A drying system that exists on one machine and not on another, an induction top instead of radiant, a different control board. When you send us a model number, that is what we are reading out of it.

13 — models with a page of their own

5 — series across the range

9 — appliance types

OEM — parts ordered against your number

## The models we are asked about most

Not a catalog — a page each for the models people arrive here searching for. If yours is not listed, the series page it belongs to covers the same ground.

No models published yet.

## The first three letters say what it is.

The prefix names the appliance and roughly where it sits in the range: **SH** for a dishwasher, **B** and a width for refrigeration, **HBL** for a wall oven, **NIT** for an induction cooktop, **HGS** for a gas range, **W** for laundry, **HUI** for a hood. The digits after it place the model in its series.

That is why a photograph of the plate is worth more than any description: it tells us the appliance, the series, the configuration and which parts fit, before anyone drives anywhere. And it is why we will not quote a part against a partial number — the trailing characters change what fits.

## By symptom, if the number is not to hand

A model number is the fastest way in and it is not the only one. If the plate is behind the appliance and the appliance is built in, start from what it is doing instead.

## Send the number anyway.

These thirteen are the ones people search for. The catalog is far larger, and every one of them is equipment we work on — a photograph of the data plate is enough for us to tell you the series, what the symptom usually points at, and what the range is.

**Call 1-11-111-11**, or use the form and attach the photograph.

## Before you send the number

Where is the model number on a Bosch appliance? — On a dishwasher it is on the tag inside the door, on the right-hand edge, visible only with the door open. On a refrigerator it is on the inside wall, usually along the left side above the crispers. On a wall oven it is on the frame behind the door, and on a washer or dryer it is inside the door opening or behind the lower panel. Photograph the whole tag rather than typing it: the letters after the digits decide which parts fit.

Is the series the same as the model number? — No, and the difference matters when parts are ordered. 300, 500 and 800 Series describe where a machine sits in the range; the model number identifies the exact build, and two machines in the same series can take different pumps, boards and racks. We work from the number on the tag.

My model is not on this page. Can you still repair it? — Yes. This page lists the numbers people ask us about most, not the machines we work on. We cover the whole current Bosch line in Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach, and older units as long as parts are still made.

Do you use genuine Bosch parts? — We fit manufacturer parts wherever they are available, and we say so before the work starts if a part has been discontinued and only an equivalent exists. If your machine is at the point where the sensible answer is a replacement rather than a repair, you are told that instead of being quoted.

How long does a part take to arrive? — Common parts for the current line are usually on the van or with us within a day or two. A board or a sealed-system component for an older machine takes longer, and the model number is what settles that before anybody comes out.

## What a Bosch model number tells a repair, and what it does not

### The number is the shortest question we can ask you

Almost every call that goes wrong starts with a machine described rather than identified. “The dishwasher is not draining” covers at least five parts and two different generations of control. The model number closes most of that down before anybody is dispatched: it says which pump is fitted, whether the machine has a display or reports through lights, and which of the 72 published codes it can even show.

### Three letters, then the rest

The opening letters describe the equipment rather than the model. SHX, SHP and SHE all begin a dishwasher; WAW and WTG begin a compact washer and a compact dryer; HBL begins a wall oven; B36 and B30 begin a refrigerator, and the two digits after the B are the width in inches. That much is worth knowing because it lets you check you are reading the right tag. Everything after it – the suffix that looks like noise – is what actually decides parts, and it is the half people leave out.

### Series and model are different facts

Bosch sells its dishwashers and ovens in the 300, 500 and 800 Series, and those names are how the range is shopped rather than how it is repaired. A 500 Series dishwasher bought four years ago and one bought last year can carry different racks, a different pump and a different board. When a parts counter asks for the model number and you give it the series, the answer that comes back is a guess with a confident tone.

### What we do with it in South Florida

Two things, both practical. The number tells us which parts to put on the van before we leave, which is why a repair here often finishes on the first visit rather than the second. And it tells us how the machine reports: a Bosch dishwasher with no display counts its condition out in the pattern of its lights, and knowing which build you have is the difference between reading that pattern and guessing at it.

### If the tag is unreadable

Salt air does that, particularly on a machine in a garage or an outdoor kitchen near the water. Send a photograph of what is left of it along with the appliance type and roughly when it was installed, and we will narrow it down from the serial or from the parts that are visible. It is a normal situation here and it does not stop a repair.

## Photograph the plate, and tell us what it is doing.

Between the model number and the symptom we can usually name the likely cause and the range before anyone comes out.
