Nothing goes outside. So there is more air path to block than on a vented machine, and a blocked one produces warm damp laundry after a full cycle — which is exactly what a failing heating element produces. ### The filter test Hold the lint filter under a running tap. Water should pass straight through. If it pools on the surface, the mesh is sealed with fabric softener residue, and the machine has been running with almost no airflow.
